    Experience : 0 Description : Job Description: The Wall Street Journal is seeking a summer intern to join its Editorial Lab. The intern is a computational journalist who will work with the Editorial Lab, a team who supports the newsroom with experimentation and research. The intern will be responsible for developing best practices for making WSJ's financial content more dynamic through automation and machine learning, working with Dow Jones's vast stores of markets and economic data.This is paid internship lasting 10 weeks. Tasks/Responsibilities + Build new experiences from real-time data streams. + Develop new forms of real-time stories, using a mix of algorithmic or AI-generated content and novel alerting systems. + Collaborate with colleagues from around the organization including the finance coverage chief to identify high-impact experiments using machine learning and natural language. + Write a case study highlighting best-practices to be shared across the newsroom. + Help identify new data science methods worth exploring, determine the processes and techniques by which we could use them for story development. + Help create a program to educate newsroom stakeholders about data science and journalism. Key Attributes/Knowledge/Experience + Academic background in computational journalism or data science. + Knowledge of R and Python. Experience with machine learning and natural language processing using open source libraries including TensorFlow,Scikit Learn, SpaCy, NLTK is preferred. + Familiarity with natural language generation and template writing. + Diverse portfolio of experiments and journalism projects using emerging technology. + Deep understanding of news media, digital journalism and content strategy.
