    PURPOSE:

    The Director of Nursing is accountable and responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating the clinical operations of the Surgery Center.  The Director of Nursing is responsible to the Administrator.  The Director of Nursing coordinates activities routinely, as appropriate, with the Administrator, Medical Director, Business Office Manager, and Quality Improvement Committee.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Maintains services in accordance with written policies and in compliance with various regulatory and accrediting agencies and is responsible for quality patient care.
    • In cooperation with the Medical Director, develops and monitors standards of care.
    • In conjunction with the Medical Director, determines clinical goals and effectively manages resources to achieve the goals.
    • Maintains a collegial relationship with physicians to ensure quality patient care.
    • Maintains an adequate inventory of equipment and supplies.
    • Manages clinical personnel, which includes recruitment, selection, training, supervision, and retention of clinical employees.
    • The Director of Nursing supervises and directs all Center personnel on a daily basis, which includes the management of the daily staffing process.
    • Fosters an environment which promotes staff growth and development.
    • Assesses the clinical staff's educational needs and implements programs to meet those needs.
    • Ensures adherence to Surgery Center policies, procedures, and safety programs.
    • In cooperation with the Medical Director, is responsible for quality improvement.
    • Serves as a liaison between the Surgery Center, local hospitals, and the community.
    • Ensures efficient and effective patient care.
    • Securing contractual services necessary for the daily operations.
    • Maintains an awareness and understanding of current regulatory legislation as it impacts the Surgery Center and institutes changes as warranted.
    • On an as-needed basis may act in the capacity of a Registered Nurse, either in the preoperative area, postoperative area, or operating room.
    • Schedules and maintains preventative maintenance on all Center equipment.
    • All other functions as assigned by the Administrator.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    REQUIRED:

     

    • Current licensure in North Carolina as a registered nurse; BSN degree required. Masters preferred.
    • Demonstrated managerial competence and three years' management experience in an ambulatory surgery center or an operating room in an acute care hospital.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrated skills in writing Policies & Procedures.
    • Demonstrated skills in the development and implementation of Quality Improvement activities.
    • Human Relations experience and skills including staff hiring, performance improvement and termination as warranted.
    • Current ACLS certification.
    • Current BCLS certification.
    • Knowledge of personal computers.
    • Intermittent physical mobility/activity including walking, standing, sitting, light lifting, pulling and pushing of carts, equipment, etc. Must be able to bend body downward at the waist; be able to kneel.

  • Qualifications

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High School Diploma or GED
    • CompTIA Security+ or equivalent IAT Level II certification
    • Possess a working knowledge of Juniper, CLI, Active Directory, Group Policy, and Microsoft operating systems and programs.
    • Eligible to obtain/maintain Secret security clearance

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Associate’s degree in Information Technology or related field
    • Experience in C4 Network related requirements
    • Experience with Vindicator IDS, MILSTAR, Technical Control / Patch and Test Facility support, Telephone Switch / POT Service, VoIP, and PA Systems (BOGEN), preferred
    • Current Secret clearance
