    About the Position:

    This position reports to the Director of Learning Technology and Online Education. The position is responsible for assessment, planning, training, and other related activities associated with the integration of new technologies into instructional programs and pedagogies.

    Work requires analysis of curriculum and instructional methodologies as well as evaluation and application of hardware and software for instructional purposes. Also responsible for support, design, implementation, and maintenance of resources used for instructional training. Requires the development of information and plans that will influence decisions and directions regarding technology implementation and facilitates use of the Teaching and Learning Innovation Centers.


    Essential Functions/Duties:


      • Work with individual faculty members and with discipline-specific groups on strategies to integrate technology into curriculum and instruction.
    • Employ problem-solving techniques to troubleshoot technology related issues for faculty, staff, and students as related for use of instructional tools and systems.
    • Support the Learning Management System (LMS) as an administrator, also serving as back-up to LMS Admin, and provide in-depth training for faculty in its functions and appropriate use to facilitate quality instructional processes and configuration of courses.
    • Be current in technology, especially as applied to curriculum and instruction, educational technologies, industry technology leaders and or best practices across higher education and disseminate such information to the department and others as appropriate.
    • Lead online professional development for faculty to earn certification to teach as a distance education instructor.
    • Identify and communicate opportunities for process and quality improvements, providing feedback on usage, deficiencies, and suggested enhancements of technologies or software for innovation.
    • Advocate the use of technology to support instruction and promote interactive and engaging ways to communicate instructional content.
    • Collaborate with the team to develop, coordinate, and plan for all training initiatives related to technology, online education, teaching and learning pedagogy, and tools for use in the learning environment; delivered for faculty and other stakeholders.
    • Participate in and/or lead communities of practice centered in educational technologies and serve as liaison for college-wide initiatives and committees as needed.
    • Maintain accurate data regarding processes for training attendance, online certification, and other areas as appropriate.
    • Serve as lead trainer for all professional development offered via Learning Technology.
    • Maintain regular attendance.

    This position is a level P15. To determine starting salary, Polk State College takes into consideration the pay level minimum, the candidate's qualifications and internal equity factors.

    Required Skills

    • Knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of a Learning Management System. Knowledge of techniques and principles involved in utilizing technology in instruction. Knowledge and understanding of best practices for online instructional processes.
    • Ability to make decisions within defined parameters of policy and professional standards.
    • Ability to work cooperatively with college personnel.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Demonstrated commitment to using technology regularly to improve workflows and enhance success.
    • Instructional supervision experience in an education setting.
    • Ability to develop and lead technology training and serve in a mentor capacity with professional peers.
    • Knowledge of components for effectively troubleshooting instructional technology-related problems.
    • Ability to use computers and related software and peripherals, including multimedia, at a high level of competence, to enhance teaching and learning and provide support.

    Working Conditions:

    • This position is an on-campus position based on our Lakeland Campus. (It is not a hybrid/remote position at this time.)
    • Scheduled hours are typically Monday- Friday, 8am-5pm.

    Required Education:

    Graduation from an accredited college or university with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education Technology, Curriculum and Instruction or another related field.


    Required Education:

    A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.

    Preferred Education:

    A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Instructional Design, Education Technology, Curriculum and Instruction, or another related field from an accredited institution.

    Required Experience

    At least three (3) years of professional experience in the use of educational technologies is required.

    Preferred Experience:

    • Experience in higher education preferred.
    • Experience teaching and or developing online courses.
    • Experience designing professional development and training.
    • Prior experience with Canvas LMS and supporting teachers and students online.
