    Photo Intern, The Intercept (Fall 2018) First Look Media - New York, NY $20 an hour - Internship The Position: The Intercept is looking for a talented, motivated photo intern to help with photo editing and other visual responsibilities. The internship will involve photo research, story art and layout, organizing contracts and documents, brainstorming concepts and ideas for visual storytelling, and collaborating with designers, editors, writers, and the social media team. While the intern may be asked to take photos on occasion, this is a photo editor position, not a photographer position. The intern will work closely with The Intercepts photo editor on fast-paced deadlines anywhere from 15 minutes to publication, to short-term projects that are a week out. Youll dig into news coverage and photo research, learning how to communicate about what makes a good image across a range of news topics, including national security, politics, civil liberties, the environment, international affairs, technology, criminal justice, the media, and more. Who Should Apply: Were looking for a candidate who has a strong photojournalism background. An interest in editing or experience with photo editing is a nice plus. Its also helpful if you have already completed at least one photojournalism-focused internship, though its not required. Background & Qualifications: * Must be a matriculating undergraduate or graduate student * Fluent in Photoshop * Knowledge of WordPress * A strong visual aesthetic * Passion for news and current events * Enjoys reading and digging deep into complex stories to understand nuances * Enthusiastic about telling visual stories on social platforms, especially Instagram * Solid communication skills * Ability to handle multiple projects within a tight deadline Hours: The internship is five days a week, $20/hour for 12 weeks. Position: Fall: Application deadline is 11:59pm EST on Monday July 9 ; internship begins in September (flexible).
