    Job Description

    The Network Engineer is responsible for the design and engineering of telecommunication networks for the Company in primary areas:

    1. Outside Plant (O.S.P.) Engineering responsible for Copper, Fiber, and Customer defined networks often described as the last mile and interoffice networks.

    The engineer must be knowledgeable of the applicable engineering standards, technical standards, and safety standards related to the design.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Engineers and issues work orders and develop solutions to meet the Company's service/customer objectives.
    • Works closely with Network Planning and Field Operations groups to ensure all CAPEX & OPEX expenditures associated with work orders are accounted for and budgeted.
    • Partners with and provides necessary support to Field Operations front line personnel.
    • Performs these functions as directed:
      • Monitors and tracks work order milestones, and budget performance results in real-time.
      • Identifies gaps and determines specific actions required to meet the Company's objectives.
      • Ensures that the designs meet service level objectives
      • Participates in special projects as assigned.

    EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:

    FOUR YEARS OF COLLEGE RESULTING IN A BACHELOR'S DEGREE OR EQUIVALENT

    CERTIFICATIONS / ACCREDITATIONS / LICENSES:

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited, four-year college or university in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, or Computer Science engineering preferred.

    EXPERIENCE

    3 TO 5 YEARS

    • Minimum 3 years of work experience in Network (Data, Transmission or Video) Engineering, O.S.P. Engineering, Network Planning, and/or technical support experience desired.
    • Formal technical training, certifications and/or licenses are highly desirable, but not required.

    SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • Familiarity with CAD, costing, and facilities record databases desired.

    • Minimum three (3) years of demonstrated experience in the following:

      • Experience with compiling and analyzing data
      • Experience with business metrics, budget, and results tracking/reporting
      • They have demonstrated technical expertise.
      • They have demonstrated working experience in M.S. Office (Word, Outlook, Excel & PowerPoint).
      • Strong creative and operational skills.
      • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
      • Demonstrated experience presenting and speaking publicly.
      • Business leadership and management ability.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities, functions, and tasks.

    • Requires leveraging leadership and a variety of technical skills to work across internal groups as well as with vendors and industry partners to support service offerings and infrastructure capabilities.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • Daytime tour of duty; occasional scheduled night and weekend work.
    • May require working alone.
    • Work may be performed in an enclosed area lacking windows.
    • May require late hours and weekends to complete assignments and projects.
    • Indoor work - Exposed to indoor conditions, dust, noise, dirt, heat, various lighting conditions, etc.
