About the Group: Systems Engineers (SEs) work with customers to understand their technical and business issues, installed network or security platforms and then tailor Juniper solutions to solve their problems. SEs work with customers, partners who sell Juniper solutions, sales, and product development teams every day. About the position: The 2019 SE Summer Intern program is focused on completing automation and SDN projects that will be used in customer engagements. In addition to the project work, you will see many facets of being an SE. We will provide you with opportunities to work alongside teams that may include: Proof of Concept labs, Inside Sales, Juniper Cloud Labs, Center of Excellence, web hosting team, various account teams, and SE technical operations. Some examples of typical SE Intern projects are: * Create automation scripts to configure routing, switching and security platforms for customer demos * Write a proof-of-concept script that automates customers operations or testing procedures * Build demos or drivers for Juniper Cloud Labs * Create SDN demos for SEs to use in the field * Update legacy software applications that support lab reservation systems or execute demo scripts Responsibilities: You will be assigned a major SDN, automation or other programming-focused project for the summer. You will also be paired with a senior SE who will guide you, set the overall context, and point you to resources as you work on the project. At the end of the internship, you will present the project and documentation to the SE team you are supporting and to SE leaders in the Americas organization. The Intern responsibilities include: * Learn basic Junos and routing/switching/security equipment configurations * Write scripts to automate functions depending on specific project * Perform basic technical troubleshooting, including problem identification, reporting and resolution to move project forward * Identify and resolve hardware, software, application or operational problems associated with internship project * Demonstrate systematic approach to solving technical problems * Build mentoring relationship throughout the internship with an assigned senior Juniper SE * Attend onsite customer presentations/engagements when possible * Assist with preparation for customer presentations which may be associated with your project * Thoroughly document project throughout the process * Produce customer facing documents (powerpoints, pdfs) at the conclusion of your project Minimum Qualifications: * Student should be currently pursuing Masters or Bachelors program: Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related degree program * Internship program runs from June-August 2019 * Programming experience required * OS virtualization technologies knowledge and experience preferred * OSI Model Layer 1-4 networking knowledge a plus Locations for Intern role: Sunnyvale, CA Westford, MA Herndon, VA Dallas, TX Juniper Networks - 7 hours ago - save job - original job Apply Now Apply On Company Site Save this job
