Cultural Programs & Exhibitions Intern Summer 2018 Meridian International Center, a not-for-profit organization, promotes international understanding through the exchange of people, ideas, and the arts. The Meridian Center for Cultural Diplomacy (MCCD) organizes, presents, and circulates a variety of high-profile, international exhibitions each year, sending these to museums, embassies, and cultural institutions around the United States and the world. MCCD also organizes and implements cultural exchanges for the U.S. Department of State and for foreign governments. Meridian interns enjoy a broad educational experience and have a genuine impact on the work of the institution. While MCCD is small, its responsibilities are vast, presenting many learning opportunities through active collaboration with staff members. Main Duties and Responsibilities: * Involvement in day-to-day operations of cultural and exhibition programs * Designing exhibition and program materials for promotional purposes using Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and other programs * Assisting with cultural programs, receptions, and planning for future activities, in particular research for new exhibitions, cultural programs, and grant proposals * Contributing written content for Meridians blog and social media outreach * Overseeing and developing documents and other illustrated texts Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be a graduate student in a related field (art history, museum studies, arts management, international studies) or the equivalent in experience. He or she will be a highly motivated self-starter with superb communication and organizational skills, and high attention to detail. The ideal candidate must be a team player with the ability to follow through on long-term projects and to work independently. Previous experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop required, and proficiency in Adobe InDesign is a plus.
