As a Spectrum Intern, youll be essential to two teams your respective department and your Intern peer group. Partner with other accomplished and dedicated interns on research and cross-functional projects. Youll have an opportunity contribute real value and meaning to the larger organization. Department and team-focused projects account for about 80% of your schedule. Youll spend the other 20% on professional development sessions and networking activities, including the Kickoff Conference on May 29 and 30, webinars, community service, and final presentations. As part of a peer community, youll contribute to cross-functional group projects, and should be ready to take on new projects as they come up. What you can expect in this role The following projects allow the intern to experience life first-hand on our Unified Test Automation Platform team by participating in actual team development activities. This is a very rare opportunity for the intern to gain valuable experience working with DevOps technologies, test automation development tools and practices, and familiarity with wireless CPE, test equipment and ISP/carrier-based back-end systems. *** PROJECT 1: Automated Wireless Test Case Clean-Up **** The intern will re-factor at least 3 existing Wireless test cases to improve them and adapt them to newer automation technologies using the Python programming language. Benefit to Intern: The intern is provided with the opportunity to enhance their Python development skills, learn how test automation frameworks work, and Timeline: ~3 weeks (estimated at 1 test case per week) *** PROJECT 2: Write a Containerized Unit Test for the Future Router Platform *** The intern will write at least 3 Python-based unit tests that run in a virtualized container on the next generation WiFi router. Timeline: ~3 weeks *** PROJECT 3: Write a wrapper around a REST-ful API *** The intern will write a Python class wrapper around a third-party test equipment vendor's CLI or REST-ful API. Timeline: ~3 weeks Total Project Time: 9/11 weeks 2 of the 11 weeks are accounted to allow time for the intern to participate in their intern program related activities.
