This internship will give student the advantage of accessing our online learning platforms and mentorship program to grow their skills exponentially while working directly with respected industry leaders. Network Operations (NetOps) is dedicated to the quality, reliability and integrity of the network systems that allow us to serve our customers. Here you will be working with bright minds that are the power behind the services that Charter provides. The program is 10 weeks in length and runs from June 2018 to August 2018. JOB SCOPE: As a member of the Email Portal Applications team, the intern will support a large scale email infrastructure hosted primarily on a Linux backend. Works with the team responsible for governance of the production email environments and will be involved with automation, scripting, troubleshooting, security controls, and other projects to drive operational improvement and stability in the environments. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: -Works with the systems engineers and software developers to improve and document processes in the environment. -Assists in development of processes and automation improvements in support of a large scale email environment. -Responsible for assisting teams in interpreting and creating support processes and procedures for Service Center Tier 1 team and transition -Assists application teams in configuration of monitoring devices, and working task tickets per team leads requests -Assists application teams in operating system (OS) and application upgrades as needed -Assists application teams on project deliverables as needed, or specified by project leads. -Works on assignments that will span one or more of the following areas: -Network Management Systems -Application confirguration -Reporting & Metrics -OS and Application patch management -Service Center Tiered documentation and transition planning -Any other duty as assignedBASIC QUALIFICATIONS: -Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Network Management or related field -Currently enrolled and completing the first year in a Masters Degree program at an accredited University -Must have at least a 3.0 GPA or greater in current Graduate programADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: -Problem solving, analytical and comprehensive skills. -Ability to write technical documentation to be referenced by technical peers in a knowledge base. -Ability to work in a team environment and work effectively with people with diverse technical skills. -Above average Unix/Linux skills -Working knowledge of Chef, Puppet, Ansible and other similar configuration management tools -Production experience with NoSQL technologies such as Cassandra, MongoDBWORKING CONDITIONS: -Office environment -No travel required The Spectrum brand is powered and innovated by Charter Communications.
