Summer 2019: * June 3rd through August 23rd * June 17th through September 6th Job Description: If you're a PhD student looking for an internship in the Industry for the summer of 2019, and if you want to have an impact on the next generation of music streaming technologies, we might have just what you're looking for. Imagine working with data from millions of Pandora listeners, music listening history in the billions of hours, and user feedback in the tens of billions. And truly unique to Pandora, youll be working with extremely rich and diverse interlinked music metadata, including annotations of our expert musicologists with the Music Genome Project 450+ musical characteristics. In this internship, you will be at the center of cutting-edge research on music recommendation and voice interaction with music streaming. You will join a team of scientists with diverse expertise in machine learning, content analysis, recommendation systems and information retrieval. We are looking for interns specialized in one of the following fields: Deep Learning, Recommendation Systems, Music Information Retrieval, Taxonomies and Ontologies, Natural Language Processing, Natural Language Understanding, Natural Language Generation, or Dialog Systems. In this internship, you will also have the opportunity to interact with senior leadership, Product, Engineering, Design and other departments in the company, and to run A/B experiments at scale. Successful candidates will have solid programming skills, outstanding communication skills, and ability to work effectively in a small team. Requirements: * Currently pursuing a PhD in quantitative field such as Machine Learning, EE, CS, NLP, Statistics, Math (ideally with 1-2 years remaining in program) * Strong background in either Machine Learning, Statistics, MIR, RecSys * Experience with Python * Experience with Hive or SQL databases * Excellent communication skills with both technical and nontechnical audiences Bonus points for: * Experience with the Hadoop technology stack * Experience with Spark and Scala * Experience with Deep Learning frameworks (e.g. TensorFlow) Pandora is committed to diversity in its workforce.
