Working closely with clients across all departments of the organization, the Pearson team is supporting the mission of the Boy Scouts of America by creating engaging and relevant print and digital content that speaks to todays youth and their families. The Proofreader performs copy editing, proofreading, and other quality control checks on the company's print and digital products for the Boy Scouts of America. The Proofreader is a full-time position working as part of an Editorial team along with Account Executives and Design staff. The Proofreader works on multiple projects simultaneously and plans and executes assigned tasks in order to meet every deadline as assigned through the teams project management system. The Proofreader is expected to become proficient in implementing the style guide of the Boy Scouts of America as well as other preferred style guidelines including The AP Stylebook. The proofreader normally receives no instruction on routine work and will receive some general instructions on new assignments. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Participating in all proofreading operations for assigned print and digital products Establishing and maintaining standards of style and language usage Reviewing all assigned materials to check for mechanical, grammatical, and spelling and formatting errors, and making sure all previous corrections have been input correctly and no new errors are introduced Creating and recommending new and innovative solutions and project improvements Performing quality control checks on print documents Applying program expertise consistently and accurately to all program materials Assisting project managers and editorial team with special projects as assigned Other duties as assigned by management. Assist with special projects as they are assigned. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE Formal education or equivalent experience (Note: This is the minimum requirement. Equivalent experience in lieu of a formal degree should be listed.)
