Publicity Boston, Massachusetts Da Capo Press Publicity Internship Now Accepting Applications Fall 2018 About the Publicity Internship Position The Da Capo Press publicity department is responsible for securing both print (newspapers, magazines, and websites) and broadcast (radio and TV) media for all Da Capo Press, Da Capo Lifelong Books, and Seal Press titlesapproximately 100 per yearand securing events (readings, signings, etc.) for authors going on book tours. Titles cover popular subjects like literature, history, music, memoir, biography, sports, science, health, parenting, feminism, LGBTQ, and cooking. The Publicity Intern serves a critical role in the success of publicity projects, and the internship is a great way to learn how books are promoted. The position requires 20 hours/week. Intern responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Drafting and copyediting press releases, author Q&As, and other press material * Identifying media opportunities and writing pitches * Assisting with galley and finished book mailings * Researching media and maintaining a media contact database * Locating publicity coverage so that it can be shared via social media Interns will have the opportunity to sit in on an editorial board meeting and a marketing meeting to gain a deeper understanding of other facets of book publishing. Required Skills Senior undergraduates or graduate students are welcome to , as are recent graduates who've graduated within the past six months. Candidates should have a genuine interest in book publishing. Relevant coursework (Writing, Publishing, English, Journalism, Communication, etc.) is encouraged.
