The Reinforcement Learning Group at SAS is looking for an intern to work on cutting edge research and development in this field. We are a cross-functional team of machine learning scientists/developers and statisticians who researches new, state-of-the-art AI and machine learning algorithms and turns them into production software. We are working on a variety of exciting projects in reinforcement learning, automated machine learning and explainable AI that will impact how our customer uses AI and ML. Responsibilities: Learn, explore, and research new machine learning algorithms in the field of Reinforcement Learning. Implement prototypes of existing algorithms and new ideas in a higher-level language like Python. Write academic papers to promote the research work. During the internship, you will work on applications of reinforcement learning in real life business applications. Some of the interesting areas that you will investigate are safe RL, robust RL, RL for recommendation systems, RL for automating machine learning. Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university seeking a PhD Computer Science, Operations Research, Mathematics, Statistics, and related graduate departments in a US Based school. Experience in Machine Learning, Optimization or Data Mining and Statistical Models Strong knowledge in machine learning especially reinforcement learning algorithms from an implementation standpoint. Students must not be graduating prior to the beginning of the internship, and be enrolled to return to school after the internship ends. What type of skills do we prefer? Experience in open source Machine Learning tools like TensorFlow, PyTorch, Chainer etc. Proficient in C/C++ programming, understanding data structures and distributed computing. Excellent communication skills and the desire to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment. Publication record in top machine learning conferences (e.g. NIPS, ICML, ICLR, KDD) Additional Information: To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States, and should not require, now or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status.
