    Legal Summer Intern University Redwood City, California Description The Shutterfly Intern program is a paid, 12-week program beginning in June and ending in August. The program offers great experience to current law school students looking to get a head start on their career goals. We like to go above and beyond for our summer associates! In addition to project based work and a great corporate culture, we host "Learning Lunches" with various executives in the company. The Shutterfly Summer Associate Program is a great way for students who have completed their second year in law school (and are still currently enrolled in law school) to get hands on experience from some of the most well respected professionals in the industry. DEPT OVERVIEW: The Legal team is responsible for identifying and quantifying legal risks and liabilities that companies face, negotiating and drafting legal agreements, helping manage litigation, coordinating with outside counsel and helping develop best business practices for a leading e-commerce retailer. POSITION SUMMARY and DESCRIPTION: The Summer Associate will be supervised by the Assistant General Counsel and will work on, respond to and collaborate with other attorneys and paralegals in the legal department on addressing real world issues that a corporate attorney faces on a daily basis. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Report to the Redwood City office Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm * Assist the Legal team with various legal matters, such as commercial agreements, corporate policies and procedures and litigation * Own specific projects assigned by the Legal team, depending on skill, preference and appetite for new and challenging work * Respond to legal inquiries from and collaborate with various business groups and colleagues at all levels QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION: Key Skills and Experience: * J.D. candidate who has completed his or her second year of law school by June 2018 at an accredited law school (this position is open to current law school students only) * Strong academic record * Self-motivated and takes pride in work * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Ability to work in a fast paced environment * Interest in practicing law in a corporate environment * Eager to learn, curious, motivated and enthusiastic about the e-commerce space * Strong computer skills * General understanding of contract, marketing, IP and other internet-related areas of law * Results oriented team player with excellent interpersonal skills * Strong business acumen and judgment, with capacity for original thoughts, and the ability to drive results SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED: * Excellent writing, presentation, organizational and analytical skills * Strong project management skills, including supervising multiple projects simultaneously * Must enjoy working in a fast paced, high volume, and time sensitive environment
