    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The primary purpose and objective for the Lead Maintenance and Repair (Sprinkler) Technician - Life Safety Services is to Install and/or Inspect, Test and Maintain (ITM) Life Safety Systems and equipment for established customers on a scheduled basis. Sprinkler Technician performs inspections, testing, and maintenance on water based fire protection systems in an industrial setting. 

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

    • Conducting service calls.
    • Systems testing and inspections to the prescribed standards.
    • Performing on-site emergency troubleshooting and maintaining of customer’s Life Safety Systems.
    • Identifying code issues and discrepancies.
    • Preparing accurate, timely Technician worksheets (TWS) and reports.
    • Installing Life Safety Systems.
    • Responsible for providing the testing and repair documentation and ensuring it is filled out accurately, completely and turned in for proper invoicing.
    • Responsible for ensuring the customer has all required copies of all required documentation upon servicing equipment.
    • Assist in shipping and receiving, unloading trucks, checking in merchandise, matching purchase orders to sales orders & distributing to sales associates for processing.
    • May include the use of company provided assets such as but not limited to: Company Vehicle, Inventory, Safety Equipment, Laptop, LSI Scanner, Test Equipment, Tools, Radio, Cell Phone, Fuel Card and/or Credit Card.
    • Associates are required to maintain proper care of all assets as defined by Vallen policies.
    • Providing customer service in the area of installation and/or ITM of Life Safety Systems. Including, but not limited to: Fire Extinguishers, Fire Alarm and Detection Systems, Gas Detection Systems, Foam Systems, Dry Chemical Systems, Clean Agent Systems, Special Hazard Systems and Water Based Systems.
    • Basic knowledge of regulatory standards pertaining to assigned duties; i.e., State, OSHA, and NFPA regulations, etc.
    • Exhibit safe work practices at all times.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

           EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: 

    • High School or GED
    • Minimum 2 Certification (manufacturing/state) ) in a fire protection  related field
    • Minimum 1 - 3 year related experience
    • Mechanically inclined
    • NICET level 1 or 2  in the Inspections and Testing of water based systems is a necessary prerequisite

     

    TRAVEL:

            Yes: 20%     

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Experience in the installation and/or maintenance, repair and service of life safety systems and equipment.
    • Ability to repair and service equipment sold by Vallen.
    • Current Motor Vehicle License with good driving record.
    • Commercial Drivers License required if carrying loads of hazardous materials.
    • Proficient with hand tools.
    • Able to complete repairs and maintenance of equipment in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Able to provide assistance, advise and training to Vallen associates and plant personnel.
    • Assist warehouse personnel with order fulfillment if needed.
    • Maintain minimum productivity of 80% within 60 days.
    • Keep all certifications and licenses current and renewed by completing continuing education as required.
    • Must pass Drug & Alcohol screen, Physical exam, and background check.
    • Ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process and quality instructions).

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.):

    • Working conditions will vary with service work being performed indoors and also out in the field.
    • Possibility of working in hazardous environments when working within a plant which would require safety precautions and appropriate equipment.
    • Ability to work in climatic weather (cold/heat) during day or night operations.
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
    • Occasional lifting of items weighting a maximum of 55 pounds.
    • Ability to climb stairwells up to 15 levels high.
    • Ability to ascend and descend ladders (step, extension, cage) up to 24’ high.
    • Able to walk at a normal pace for up to 15 continuous minutes.
    • Able to work from a standing position for 8-10 hours.
    • Bending, climbing and stooping as needed for access of equipment to repair and service.
    • Pass all test requirements to be approved to work off shore. (If Applicable)

    CERTIFICATION:

    • LA City fire card within 6 months of employment
    • High School Diploma or GED 3) Must be a graduate of a state approved, accredited school of Surgical Technology or Central Service.
    • Certified status from IAHCSMM (CRCST) or NBSTSA (CST) required.
