    SUMMARY:

    The position of Task Force Lead requires a dedicated individual who will take direction from the Guest Service Management Team in carrying out a great guest experience in relation to Guest Service activities. Task Force leads will be responsible for the daily operations and implementing requirements for the cleanliness of the overall Newport Aquarium facility. The position of Task Force Lead will ensure guest satisfaction, a great team member experience and quality service.

    Required Skills

    MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Perform and adhere to, Herschend Family Entertainment Core Values and Newport Aquarium Guest Service Standards, Policies and Procedures, and Safety Protocols to ensure safe and efficient guest service operation.

    • Lead a team of 1 to 4 people (depending on the season). Responsible for the supervision of task force processes and its team members.

    • Help Guest Service Team develop and monitor a highly motivated, positive, and productive team.

      • Assist in evaluations and training of all task force team members
    • Help implement new policies and procedures when needed.

    • Maintaining accurate recording keeping involving team members, including Newport Aquarium awards and recognitions.

    • Handle comments, concerns and suggestions from team members and guests regarding the guest experience.

    • Maintain knowledge of activities, aquatic life, and Newport Aquarium special events/promotions in order to properly notify and inform guests.

    • Maintain a positive attitude and appearance at all times.

    • Must be self-motivated to work independently, as well as, disciplined and reliable.

    • Arrive on time and ready to work all scheduled shifts, and in accordance with aquarium and appearance standards.

    • Keep safety as a number one priority at all times while working at Newport Aquarium.

    • Maintain appropriate guest and team member relations at all times, ensuring guest and team satisfaction.

    • Work with other team members/departments of Newport Aquarium to ensure effective communication is implemented at all times.

    • Provide on-boarding and ongoing training to team members in order to maintain knowledge of aquarium activities and operations.

    • Perform opening and closing duties.

    • Make certain that proper operating procedures are being adhered to at all times, according to pre-determined guidelines.

    • On a daily basis ensure that:

      • Team members are knowledgeable on location and the functions of position; if not, inform Guest Service Management Team immediately.
      • Will maintain inventory of adequate supplies and will assist in the ordering of all necessary products.
      • Maintaining cleanliness of Newport Aquarium facility.
      • All required paperwork is properly completed.
      • Courteousness, friendliness, and helpfulness are being displayed at all times.
      • Opening and closing procedures are appropriately implemented.
      • Ensuring team members are in correct uniform.
      • Maintaining proper break schedule for team members as prescribed in team member handbook.
      • Perform other related duties or tasks as assigned by the Guest Service Management Team.

    Required Experience

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High school equivalent required
    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel is a plus.
    • Previous supervisory experience preferred. Previous guest service or housekeeping experience preferred.
    • Must have the ability to read, write and speak the English language (knowledge of other languages is a plus).
    • Must be able to think clearly, react quickly, and calmly to changes and/or emergency situations.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule which will include evenings, weekends and holidays.

    PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening and background check.
    • Ability to remain on feet for long periods of time, climb stairs, bend and stoop.
    • Physical strength, including the ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

    Note: Position may involve exposure to inclement weather, dust, potentially dangerous an unpredictable animal species, and potential dangerous machinery, restraint devices and toxic chemicals and/or drugs. Occasional use of protective clothing or equipment is required e.g. goggles, mask, gloves, and gowns.
