This internship will give student the advantage of accessing our online learning platforms and mentorship program to grow their skills exponentially while working directly with respected industry leaders. Network Operations (NetOps) is dedicated to the quality, reliability and integrity of the network systems that allow us to serve our customers. Here you will be working with bright minds that are the power behind the services that Charter provides. The program is 10 weeks in length and runs from June 2018 to August 2018. JOB SCOPE: As a member of the Provisioning & Application team, the intern will be responsible for customer premises equipment (CPE) activation, provisioning, and operations at Charter. This includes end to end management of all systems, servers, and applications that support over 60 million CPE devices. We are also responsible for the day to day care and feeding of all CPE; including testing, certification, firmware management, and configuration of all addressable CPE. We are an operations-centric service fulfillment organization; we keep the lights on, we take the call when things go bump in the night, and we take pride in that responsibility. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This is an opportunity for a college student to obtain meaningful work experience through on-the-job training and work assignments. The student will work under the supervision of engineering staff on-site and gain insight and an appreciation for operations and engineering processes and activities related to the cable industry, specifically within the CPE disciplines. General duties include: Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience Install, administer, configure and maintain CPE activation, provisioning, and operations platforms including operating systems and related software Monitor and assist in managing applications, device availability, network conditions and status, system reliability and performance, service and program maintenance and storage resources Generate reports on server and application availability and performance Work with Product, IT Service Delivery and Advanced Engineering to determine needs BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Network Management or related field - Currently enrolled and completing the first year in a Masters Degree program at an accredited University - Must have at least a 3.0 GPA or greater in current Graduate programADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: - Basic working knowledge of UNIX-based systems - Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional manner.WORKING CONDITIONS: - Office environment - No travel required The Spectrum brand is powered and innovated by Charter Communications.
