    Job Description

    WHO WE ARE:

    The mission of Twitter's Embed Client team is to help people stay informed about what's going on in the world wherever they are online. We do this by making Twitter content available and embeddable around the internet, and making it easy and compelling to join the conversation on Twitter.

    As an engineering manager on the team, you'll be working to ensure Twitter for Websites embeds are the best way for publishers to tell amazing stories using Twitter content on their websites. Through your work, Twitter grows beyond a great consumer app to a company whose content powers experiences across the web.

    WHAT YOU'LL DO:

    We believe passion and personality matter. As such, we need someone who can lead diverse, smart, and driven engineers while balancing personnel challenges with business requirements. In this role, you will:

    • Mentor the professional development of each direct report through personal and performance management.
    • Build and foster a team culture that is positive, encouraging, inclusive, and engaging.
    • Be an ambitious source of engineering talent and be comfortable closing candidates
    • Give engineers the tools, confidence, and motivation to make decisions independently which enables them to develop and perform as highly as possible

    Our ultimate goal is to 'ship it,' so it’s imperative that the engineering manager:

    • Leads group’s technical strategy and roadmap and creates success metrics in close collaboration with other Engineering and Product Managers.
    • Brings a strong perspective that inspires new ideas and motivates engineers to develop simple solutions to sophisticated problems.
    • Works with tech leads and senior engineers to capture requirements, gut checks new feature proposals and large improvements.
    • Has the technical capacity to partner with tech leads and is comfortable diving into the fray to help drive resolution in the case of bad incidents.

    • You foster collaboration with Backend, Product, Design, Research, and Data Science to develop high-quality, focused products (and inspire your team to independently initiate this same collaboration).
    • You seek diverse perspectives to drive innovation and create buy-in from all technical partners inside and outside the team.
    • You are experienced with software engineering standard methodologies and bring a disciplined approach to testing and driving reductions in technical debt.
    • You ensure the team fully understands the goals and objectives of Twitter as a company and how their work fits into the bigger picture.
    • You have experience leading engineers at all levels and you’re skilled at coaching and guiding your directs through their career development.
    • You are customer focused, with ability to offer input on high level solutions to customer problems that helps drive product roadmap.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • B.S. or Masters in Computer Science or equivalent, with 5+ years of industry experience
    • 2+ years of experience managing software engineering teams
    • Previously managed a team of 4-8 engineers with responsibility for mobile or web client
