Twitter is a recommendation engine, and our Recommendations Platform group is the team that powers multiple, high-impact products in this space, including Timelines, Topics, Notifications, and Search. To enable this, we build foundational technology in user interest profile, candidate generation, user targeting, and similarity. Most of our work is about recommendation systems, machine learning, distributed systems, and social graph analysis.

We are looking for a hands-on, technical Engineering Manager to oversee the relevance aspects of our team charter!

What You’ll Do:

• Own the vision and mission for the Recommendations Platform Quality team.
• Mentor the career development of the passionate, hardworking engineers on your team.
• Build strong relationships with other functions, such as Product, Data Science, and Research, partnering closely with them to deliver value to our users.
• The ideal candidate would be equally comfortable guiding the quality of the Recommendation Systems, white-boarding new product ideas with product managers, and brainstorming ways to efficiently index and serve tweets with systems engineers.

Who You Are:

• You have a background in recommendation systems, ideally in a real-time and large-scale setting.
• You can hold your own technically with engineers on the team and give constructive feedback on projects and ideas.
• You are skilled at mentoring and guiding your peers and directs through their careers.
• You have passion for experimentation and iterative product development driven by data.
• You like to work on fast paced teams, collaborate, and ship things.

Qualifications

• BS or higher in Computer Science (or equivalent work experience)
• Experience managing a team of 5 or more engineers building ML models in a product setting
