WHO WE ARE

We are part of the Engineering Effectiveness organization, which provides the tools and services all engineers at Twitter need to iterate faster, ship high-quality products, and enjoy doing it!

Our team builds and improves the interactive environment that all Twitter engineers use to develop software. We research, develop, operate and support core components of the development environment. We partner with teams that own specific development tools and help curate the overall interactive development experience. As other teams experiment with the latest and greatest tools, we ensure compatibility with the current development environment and support any needed integration with other core components.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

You will lead a team that owns the tools and utilities that enable developers to be productive within their environment. You’ll drive the team to come up with creative solutions to improve developer velocity within their local environment as it relates to all phases of the development process and tackle challenges in a breadth of areas such as documentation, library distribution, and tool analytics. As developer productivity challenges arise, your team will be tasked with engineering the appropriate solution to be scaled to all engineers at Twitter!

WHO YOU ARE

• You have significant technical experience and expertise related to software development in Python
• You are passionate about improving developer workflows through instrumentation, analysis, optimization, and working with internal customers
• You are experienced with software engineering methodologies and bring a well-adapted approach to testing and driving reductions in technical debt
• You have experience leading engineers at all levels and you’re skilled at coaching and guiding your directs through their career development
• You can clearly articulate desired outcomes and empower engineers to develop simple solutions to complex problems.
• You make your arguments based on facts and data, but understand how to value and include intuition in the decision-making process
• You have the ability to gather product and business requirements and to gut-check new insights and proposals

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience managing software engineering teams or leading cross-cutting efforts that span multiple development teams
• Experience leading a team passionate about improving the development environment and developer efficiency
• Project management experience and in-depth knowledge to build alignment across a set of multi-functional peers
• Excellent interpersonal skills and can demonstrate having collaborated with tech leads and senior engineers and other subject areas to deliver new products to market and iteratively improve these products over time
• B.S. or Masters in Computer Science with 5+ years of experience working in a similar role
