Twitter SRE scales Twitter to serve the public conversation around the globe. We inspire engineering confidence by systematically making services reliable and efficient, and ensuring changes are safe and fast.

Core Infrastructure Services SRE scales and operates a portfolio of systems that provide secure access to, and fundamental underpinnings of, Twitter’s infrastructure. We believe passion and personality matter; as such, we seek engineers who bring a blend of intuition, technical expertise, and empathy to the role of site reliability.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Twitter offers engineers the unique opportunity to personally make a noticeable difference at a company that makes a difference in the world. In this role, you will serve Twitter by ensuring the reliability of these systems as Twitter scales across multiple data centers and public cloud vendors. You will play an instrumental role in setting a technical direction for core infrastructure, and growing and mentoring other engineering talent on the team and around the company.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Help usher Twitter into the next generation of infrastructure management, across multiple data centers and multiple cloud environments

• Be responsible for the group’s technical strategy and roadmap

• Apply Twitter’s implementation of concepts like failure domain, blast radius, and canary testing to lower levels of infrastructure

• Architect and help build systems and tools to help Twitter engineers use data to reason about the changes they make to infrastructure

• Establish standards across the company

• Work with legacy systems, while helping establish a strategy for scaling and improving them, or retiring and replacing them with better fits to Twitter’s current needs

Qualifications

WHO YOU ARE 

• 10+ years SRE or software engineering experience in backend infrastructure

• Engineering experience in a high-complexity, massive scale environment; multi-datacenter or multi-cloud

• Reliability focused: you love to deliver business value through reliability

• Experienced in making tradeoffs between cost and risk

• Consistent record of working with multiple internal groups to understand their requirements, mapping those requirements to solutions, and deploying those solutions
