WCIV ABC NEWS 4 has an opening for a weekend Sports Anchor/Multimedia Journalist (MMJ). We take our sports coverage seriously with a focus on telling local sports stories. If you want to rip-and-read national highlights, this is not the job for you. We expect enterprising coverage of our high school and college teams. The job requires a flexible schedule, as we have a 2-person sports department. In times of breaking news, a major local story, or hurricane you will be expected to report for the news. You must also share a love for news. Whether it's news or sports, we expect great storytelling and adlib skills.

You will be required to produce daily content on a variety of platforms, including the internet and social networks, along with performing other duties as assigned by the news managers. The ability to work under deadline and on a flexible schedule that adapts to our local teams and players.

SKILLS:

• Engaging, confident, and able to provide accurate live reporting
• The ability to execute accurate studio anchoring
• Solid storytelling skills
• Exemplary shooting and editing

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE FOR THIS ROLE WILL HAVE PROVEN EXPERIENCE IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:

• Anchoring a sportscast
• Live reports and interviews from sporting events
• Hosting or co-hosting weekly sports shows, such as high school football
• Shooting and editing
• building relationships with area coaches and players

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

• Must have 2+ years on-air experience
• 2-3 years working in the sports department of a commercial television station
• A degree in broadcast journalism or related field
