This position is responsible for developing and designing new state tax forms and instructions. The Forms Designer is also responsible for updating and managing existing forms, instructions, and publications as well as researching forms and forms technology for improved efficiency and tax data processing effectiveness and usability. This position will work with subject matter experts in order to produce deliverables based on analysis of legislation, regulations, business processes, accounting and processing systems, tax preparation software applications, stakeholder feedback, and taxpayer behavior. Virginia Tax, headquartered in Richmond, is responsible for administering 37 state and local taxes, sales and use taxes, and miscellaneous excise taxes with integrity, efficiency, and consistency. Virginia Tax works directly with individual and business taxpayers and local governments to ensure the Commonwealths revenue is collected and taxes administered with fairness, diligence, and integrity. Minimum Qualifications - Experience creating and updating forms for web, electronic, and paper formats - Knowledge of form design, data capture applications and graphics, and desktop publishing - Strong technical writing skills with experience writing for multiple audiences - Understanding of UX principles and experience applying them to deliverables. - Ability to work in a rapid-development, agile environment with tight deadlines. - Working knowledge of tools such as Microsoft Word, SharePoint, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Adobe InDesign, and Acrobat - Strong organizational skills and experience handling multiple complex projects at the same time - Background in Computer Science or Digital Design, and a combination of training and work experience Preferred Qualifications - Experience designing and developing forms Special Requirements The selected candidate will be prohibited from performing tax or accounting services for compensation during or outside business hours.
