Fact-checking News Intern Job Description WCNC NBC CHARLOTTE, in Charlotte, North Carolina, a TEGNA Media station, has immediate openings for college students interested in broadcast journalism to join our news team as VERIFY Research Assistants. Assignments include fact checking, investigative research, working side by side with experienced journalists in storytelling, videography, digital and social media. This is a paid job, not just an internship. Hours may vary based on events and activities, but will range between 10-20 hours per week. This role will offer the opportunity for aspiring journalists to stop aspiring and start doing. Your primary role will be to verify and fact check the days news, and then help WCNC explain daily news events in simple ways on all platforms. Job Requirements Requirements: Degree-seeking student currently enrolled at a college or university; preference is for juniors with a GPA of 3.0 or higher who will be rising seniors during their internship summer Passion for storytelling Strong writing and social media skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment NOTE: TEGNA does not guarantee full-time, permanent employment upon completion of the internship program.
