    Job Summary:

    The Manufacturing Engineer, battery cell, is responsible for developing and maintaining equipment and processes required to successfully transition battery cell designs into production on ’s existing flexible, automated, cell manufacturing equipment. The manufacturing engineer will also lead the setup and optimization of equipment added for increased capacity. This position requires the ability to read instructions represented in manuals and follow these instructions. This position exists in a temperature-controlled environment.

    Essential/Key Functions:

     

    • Read and comprehend instructions and follow established procedures
    • Lead process development to realize new battery cell designs on existing equipment
    • Support the development of new equipment specifications and qualification requirements
    • Participate in concept and detailed design reviews for equipment and process
    • Conduct analysis required to demonstrate equipment and process can meet design requirements such as tolerance analysis, process failure modes and effects analysis (PFMEA)
    • Develop and conduct process DOEs to determine optimal process conditions
    • Validate equipment and processes to demonstrate capability to meet design and operationalrequirements
    • Drive failure analyses and DOEs to define corrective actions and implement continuous
    • improvement

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial)
    • 3 years minimum hands-on experience in the commissioning and operation of complex
    • automation systems in a medium to high volume manufacturing environment

     

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Proficiency using 2D & 3D CAD to study tooling models and assemblies, and create concept level

      drawings (Solid works is preferred)

    • Proficiency in mechanical assembly and inspection processes
    • Hands-on equipment problem solver that can personally run equipment through HMIs.
    • Experience in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical equipment
    • Proficient in process characterization, validation, and monitoring using statistical tools (DOE,

      SPC, ANOVA)

    • Proven track record of using a structured, data-driven methodology to solve complex problems

    • Experience in using PFMEA to assess and define actions to reduce process risk around key

      process characteristics

    • Excellent communication skills, verbal, written, and visual
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially MS Excel
    • Six-Sigma Green Belt Certification
