BD SUMMER INTERN PROGRAM 2023 – ELECTRICAL/MECHANICAL/MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING INTERN, MMS INFUSION

PROGRAM OVERVIEW:

BD Medical is among the world's leading suppliers of medical devices and a leading innovator in injection and infusion-based drug delivery. We are passionate about providing innovative solutions to reduce the spread of infection, improve diabetes treatment and advance drug delivery. With our technical capabilities, the Medication Management Solutions (MMS) team is able to lead multiple systems and our operational capabilities enable us to have medications available when and where needed, reducing inefficiency and waste for nursing and pharmacy teams.

The BD MMS division is seeking to attract highly motivated undergraduates for on-site (San Diego, California) summer internships who want to acquire practical work experience within Sustaining and Manufacturing Engineering. This encompasses Process Engineering, Production Engineering, Design Engineering and Project Management. As an intern, you can expect projects that are both ambitious and rewarding. You will work under the management of a BD associate who serves as your mentor to aid and assist in your transition into the corporate environment. As part of the broader BD Intern Program, Manufacturing Interns participate in various networking events, career development sessions and team building activities. This program offers the opportunity to connect with company management, learn how functional groups collaborate to accomplish goals, and gain real-world experience in a role supporting Manufacturing and Production initiatives.

MMS ENGINEERING SUMMER INTERNSHIP VALUE PROPOSITION:

The Infusion Engineering Summer Intern experience is enriched with:

• Business Impact - Engineering Summer Interns work on challenging and meaningful assignments that add business value across the Infusion business.

• Diversity - Engineering Summer Interns have the opportunity to collaborate with different teams within the Infusion business segment.

• Coaching and Development - Peer Mentors and Managers provide the Summer Intern with career guidance and advice throughout the Internship.

• Leadership Visibility - Engineering Summer Interns present their accomplishments at the end of the summer to the MMS Executive Leadership Team, Engineering Leadership Teams, and their Peers.

• The goal of the Engineering Summer Internship is to improve BD's organizational vitality and to empower early-career professionals through immersive learning focused on the key role that Engineering plays at BD!

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE

• Assembly fixture duplication/design modification(s) for higher throughput

• Assist with test fixtures on production line setup

• Assist project manager(s) with design packages for injection-mold tooling

• Assist with component part qualification schedule(s)

• Conduct data analysis of production process capabilities

• Perform manufacturing process and product validation

• Communicates across functions / departments for assigned areas of responsibility

• Generate charts and presentation material to report data and metrics for the assigned work area as required by Management

INTERNSHIP QUALIFICATIONS

• An undergraduate student working towards a bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing preferred)

• Prior internship or Co-op experience in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field desired, but not required

• Proficient in working with MS Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

• Proven technical proficiency

• Ability to learn quickly, deal with ambiguity, take initiative and achieve results

• Excellent written and communications skills

• Proven organization and time management skills
