    GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

    Verification of the design of new products from both a utilitarian and safety prospective to meet the system design objectives.  To evaluate requirement adequacy against system design objectives, which are driven by identification of the customer and surgical needs.  Verifications include tests on electrical components, software feature components, mechanical components, and the long-term reliability of these aspects of the design.     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Intern Engineer with training to work in tandem with senior or staff engineer to coordination testing
    • Engineer should be versed in programming (ie. Matlab, Labview…)
    • Intern Engineer should also be versed in ProE Design, 3D Printing, and Linux for creation of fixtures and adapters for the integration of the Faro Cobalt with the Universal Robot and writing batch file scripts.
    • Previous internships with Stryker will provide candidates with a competitive advantage.   
    • Individual should also be able to trouble shoot issues and solve them.
    • Interfacing with the Robonet via WiFi network requires candidate to have hardware firewall configurations and software integration.
    • Performs testing as needed. Coordinates with technicians, supervisors, managers, engineers, scientists, and outside test houses to ensure timely and high quality test execution.
    • Writes and/or reviews test reports that document test results and draws conclusions from test data.

    WHAT YOU NEED

    • Currently working on completion of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in related field or equivalent; we will only consider students who plan be enrolled in a degree-seeking program after the summer
    • Cumulative 3.0 GPA or above; must be the case at the date of hire and also will be verified during background check in the spring
    • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and not require employment-based sponsorship now or in the future.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow
    • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
    • Ability to exercise independent judgment
    • Proficient on basic computer programs: Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
    • Proven leadership and business acumen skills
    • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Candidate should be perusing a Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Computer Engineering, Bio-Medical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
    • Excellent analytical skills.
    • Demonstrated mechanical/electrical problem solving skills.
    • Must have the ability to work with and assemble small objects and component parts.
    • Must have good visual acuity and demonstrate fine motor skills.
    • Ability to build collaborative relationships quickly
    • Strong technical writing skills for reports, work instructions, protocols, procedures, and correspondence
    • The ability to think critically and challenge conventional processes based on efficiency and improved early detection of software and hardware bugs is essential.
    • Exhibit initiative, dependability, independence, motivation, and be detail-oriented (This pertains more to critical thinking as to the appropriate test method versus insignificant minor typographical errors).
