    Stryker Endoscopy Test Lab Organization seeks an intern with experience in software testing, coding, and debugging. The intern will gain exciting real-world software development lifecycle experience at a thriving medical company.

    We work closely with the R&D, Quality, and other test teams to investigate issues, explore new technologies, and learn from one another. The ideal intern for this environment will be enthusiastic and collaborative. The job requires the ability to make judgements based on practice and previous experience. 

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

    To verify the design of new products are safe and effective and meet the requirements set forth by the functional specifications for the device. Verifications include tests on unit level, component level, system level, white box, black box, and gray box testing and Automation.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Document and test new software integration applications.

    • Understanding Operating Room Workflows.

    • Determine medical device common and extreme use cases to identify test methods to exercise the system in the Integrated Operation Room.

    • Opportunity to gain experience and finding challenging issues.

    • Report issues in defect tracking system.

    • Opportunity to review already existing test methods and find creative ways to optimize the existing test methods to improve software product quality and improve time to market.

    • Testing new products/components/designs and/or design changes to existing products.

    • Writes and/or reviews test protocols that document and qualify verification test methods. Innovates testing methods and in-house capabilities.

    • Opportunity to develop automation test methods to exercise system performance, regression test cycles using C/C++ or python

    • Compliment finding defects early in the project, and speed the test cycle via the automated test execution

    • Practical experience with a wide variety of software development Lifecycle tasks and Product development lifecycle management tools

    • Exposure to Simulated Integrated OR Systems

    • Collaborating together with skilled teams of software test engineers

    • Shadowing, mentoring, and training opportunities with seasoned professionals

    • Compliment your coursework with real-world experience, gain exposure to software coding and development and become familiar with the business world.

    • Opportunity to participate in networking events and company meetings

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Software Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.

    • Excellent analytical skills.

    • Able to develop simple automation scripts using C/C++ or python

    • Must be able to read, write, and speak fluently in English about technical subject matter.

    • Demonstrated ability to operate small hand tools (e.g. pliers, screwdrivers, hammer, wrenches, etc.), power tools and test/inspection equipment.Demonstrated software problem solving skills.

    • Currently working on completion of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in related field or equivalent; we will only consider students who plan to be enrolled in a degree-seeking program after the summer

    • Cumulative 3.0 GPA or above; must be the case at the date of hire and also will be verified during background check in the spring

    • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and not require employment-based sponsorship now or in the future.
