POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Research Internship is an opportunity to apply your engineering and science background to help solve real problems encountered in the design and use of medical devices for emergency care. For this 2023 internship, strong emphasis is on biomedical signal processing and development and testing of algorithms that make intelligent use of ECG and other biosignals.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
The student chosen for this internship may have the following responsibilities:
Write computer programs to process and interpret biomedical signals
Test performance of biosignal algorithms using clinical data
Help analyze clinical or experimental data
Design and build “gadgets” that demonstrate or test feasibility of new ideas
Summarize and present results of research projects
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
High School education or equivalent
B.S. in bioengineering / biomedical engineering or similar, plus at least 1 year of graduate study in biomedical engineering
Bioengineering, biostatistics, biosignal processing or other quantitatively intensive curricula plus additional biology coursework (such as systems physiology)
Minimum GPA 3.0
DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prior research experience
Familiarity with processing of physiological signals and/or statistical data analysis
Experience developing and testing algorithms to intelligently process and interpret biosignals, especially ECG
Strong written and oral communication skills
Must be able to work independently, on a team, and have initiative
