    DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM AND TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES:

    Wayside MetroWest Community Services serves a variety of people with serious emotional disturbances through community based interventions: Intensive Care Coordination, Mobile Crisis Intervention, In-Home Therapy, Family Support and Stabilization, Therapeutic Mentoring, Youth Support and Outpatient therapy. We utilize Wraparound, Motivational Interviewing and strength-based models of care to see families not only in the office but also in their homes and provide intensive wrap-around, family-centered, solution-focused treatment. As a member of the site team, interns will have the opportunity to work in collaboration with staff as well as independently with multi-stressed families across multiple settings.

    Founded in 1977, Wayside Youth & Family Support Network is a non-profit, nationally accredited human service agency headquartered in Framingham, Massachusetts dedicated to building strength, hope and resiliency in youth, families and our local communities. Wayside is one of Massachusetts’ most respected child and family serving agencies with 19 program locations across Eastern and Central Massachusetts serving more than 5,000 children, young adults and families each year. Wayside staff and clinicians provide community trainings in schools, to mental health providers and in collaboration with community partners. Wayside is a teaching and training facility that provides graduate and undergraduate students with internships and clinical placement.

  • Qualifications

    INTERNSHIP REQUIREMENTS:

    • Intern must be available a minimum of 20 hours/week and have the ability to work two evenings a week.
    • A background in health and human services or related field preferred.
    • Second/final year interns only.
    • Intern must have strong communication skills both written and verbal.
    • Intern must be comfortable in a variety of settings including office, home visits and community meetings.
    • Valid driver’s license required and working vehicle.
    • CORI check and completion of Wayside’s Pre-service Orientation.
    • Perform intakes, assessments, treatment plans/individual care plans, follow up care and on-going treatment.
    • Weekly attend and participate in staff meeting and intern seminar.
    • Coordinate care for families and individuals including seeking other services and resources as well as collaborating with a variety of systems and providers.
