Disability Partnerships is seeking an Advocacy Intern who is passionate about disability rights to support our work by helping to build a grassroots movement in support of our objectives and projects. The Advocacy Intern will reach out to community organizations and work to raise awareness of the obstacles facing individuals with physical disabilities both within the local community and across the country. Applicants should either be pursuing or have completed an undergraduate or graduate degree. Ideal candidates will possess strong research and analysis skills, and an interest in using social media for community organizing and community engagement.

Disability Partnerships is a Maryland-based nonprofit organization dedicated to the mission of improving the quality of life of individuals with physical disabilities. One of our primary objectives is to significantly increase the availability of affordable, accessible housing for disabled individuals both locally and nationally.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Issue based research, drafting articles, blog posts, opinion pieces and letters to the editor
• Strategizing ways to mobilize Disability Partnerships’ supporters
• Generating social media content
• Drafting, editing, proofreading materials for distribution and publication; and
• Assisting with event coordination

• The ideal intern will be highly organized, and able to work with minimal supervision.
• This internship may require occasional travel throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
• Law, public policy, organizing and advocacy, social work and disability studies students are encouraged to apply.
