  • Responsibilities

    The end date is flexible to accommodate those returning to college or those moving on to another position. Travel Allowance is $650 with car required for this position.

    In this internship you will access the backcountry by foot and camp overnight in the areas assigned to monitor public use and prevent potential impacts to natural resources. Duties will include: educating the public on the proper use of public lands, and providing information on trail conditions and Rules and Regulations; educating the public regarding current topics that could influence fragile ecosystems; notifying the Forest Ranger and Forester with respect to potential problems such as those involving hazardous trail conditions, public use, and emergencies that he/she encounters; performing minor maintenance (such as removing blowdown, installing or replacing trail markers and signs, cleaning drainage devices, fencing;) and work with other staff as requested; monitoring human visitation patterns, ecosystem condition; performing first aid and CPR in emergencies; providing support for existing volunteer networks.

    Position ending date is flexible for students returning to college or moving on to other career opportunities. However, start date is not flexible to due the first week of required training.
