  • Responsibilities
    • Supervise implementation of and adherence to Starfish Behavior Management System
    • Provide overall behavioral support for staff working with campers in difficult situations
    • Ensure communication between campers, staff, administrators and directors
    • Complete daily reports and ensure paperwork is completed in a timely and professional manner
    • Follow policy and procedures; implement them across camp and supervise staff in such a way that camper and staff safety are of the utmost priority at all times
    • Prioritize a safety-first environment for all campers and staff.
    • Understand and implement all aspects of the risk management plan
    • Become well versed in supervisory techniques, including but not limited to goal setting, constructive feedback, staff appreciation, active listening, support, mentoring, managing crucial conversations, and delegation
    • Complete timely and formalized feedback for all staff whom you supervise
    • Conduct staff training sessions as assigned by the director team to ensure that staff understand their roles and responsibilities
    • Mentor staff and provide small group/individual support as needed
    • Help with staff appreciation events, create end-of-summer awards, and maintain staff morale
    • Work with Director Team to provide appropriate communication to parents regarding their child’s experience
    • Positively represent Starfish at all times during the course of employment
    • Complete other duties as assigned
  • Qualifications

    Camp Starfish Administrators should meet the following requirements:

    • Have the desire and ability to work with children outdoors, in a mission-focused, not-for-profit organization dedicated to fostering the success and growth of children with emotional, behavioral, and learning challenges
    • Pass all background checks as required for employees of an organization working with vulnerable child populations
    • Respect differences in religion/ethnicity/culture/race/gender/sexual orientation and other diversities present in the staff and camper population
    • At least 19 years old
    • One summer of work experience in a similar program preferred
  • Compensation
    Salary commensurate with experience. Room and board provided. Travel stipend offered. Paid internship for course credit also available!

    Camp Starfish is a not-for-profit residential camp which serves children between the ages of 7 and 16 who have emotional, behavioral, social and learning challenges. Using a combination of traditional camp programs combined with an industry-unique one-to-one staff to camper ratio, we have created a different kind of place. Our campers experience success and fun at camp because of the individualized attention they receive from talented and amazing staff (like you!).
