Announcing the 2022-24 Two Year Teaching Fellows Partnership Program with the Charles Sposato Graduate School of Education and The Community Group of Lawrence, MA Leading to a Master’s Degree in Effective Teaching and a Full-Time Paid Teaching Position!

    Program Mission:

Through this partnership with the Sposato Graduate School of Education (SGSE) and The Community Group (TCG) we will continue our mission to recruit and train highly effective beginning teachers to work in our PreK-8 charter schools or our K-4 “Turn Around” school in Lawrence, MA. This program relies on highly cohesive coursework, large doses of prescriptive coaching, and extensive on-site professional development which ensures classroom success in meeting the unique challenges of working in an urban school setting.

    Program Overview: Graduate Student Experience:

Sposato graduate student teachers at TCG will spend dedicated time in the classroom of a host teacher, during the 2021-22 school year. Students will gradually increase their teaching responsibilities in order for them to be fully prepared to take on complete classroom responsibilities for the start of the 2023-24 school year.

Over the course of the first year, graduate students will spend 2 nights per week pursuing their Sposato coursework. Additional reading and work may be assigned outside of the course time. In the fall of the first year, students will spend a number of Saturdays honing instructional strategies by practicing their instruction. In the spring, graduate student teachers will continue Sposato coursework 2 nights per week, and in the month of July, graduate student teachers will spend 3-4 weeks lead teaching summer school as part of their summer practicum.

As a second year Sposato graduate student you will have the opportunity of a fully-salaried teaching position with The Community Group Network or another SGSE partner district. Given the intensity of the teaching load, the second year graduate student’s responsibilities are modified and include passing coursework and a battery of assessments from SGSE in order to receive a Masters in Effective Teaching Degree.
