  • Responsibilities

    This position will support the interpretive, education and volunteer operations located at the Great Falls Tavern Visitor Center in Potomac, Maryland. The Conservation intern will assist in regular programming and special event planning at the Tavern as well as be a member of the mule-drawn canal boat team. Other programming includes interpretive ranger programs, education field trips, junior ranger activities, biking, hiking and boating activities and historical reenactments.

    The Conservation intern will assist visitors in the visitor center and out on the trails by ensuring an understanding of park rules and regulations, sharing recreation opportunities and providing information as needed. They will also help create new programs that will attract the next generation of park stewards through the use of digital media, on the ground activities and/or interpretive print media.
