Dallas, TX

Believing that every child belongs in a safe, nurturing, and permanent family, Buckner International works daily to stabilize, heal, and empower families to realize their fullest, God-given potential.

    Internship Overview:

Buckner programs include Foster Care, adoption, and family strengthening.  Many of our programs have adult classes and training where the provision of childcare is the determining factor on whether the parent can participate in the program.  We are looking for an intern to help in the planning, supervision, and volunteer management of our childcare activities for various programming. Below are some of the families that this internship would be supporting in their role.

    • Foster parents provide families for abused and neglected children.  Sometimes, parents are thrown into fostering because one of their relatives is removed by Child Protective Services. When a child is removed from their family because of abuse or neglect, we always look for family members who are willing to care for the child first before putting the child in a foster home. These are called kinship placements, and many times, they are not expecting to have relatives come live with them.  Because of this unexpected life change, we provide childcare for their required licensing classes.
    • Buckner Family Pathways provides hope and stability for single parent families coming from crisis.  With their lives stabilized and a safe place to live, families can focus on improving themselves, seeking to fulfill their personal goals and goals for higher education.
    • Buckner Family Hope Centers equip children and families for life. They are child-centered, family-focused places where families go to find hope, support and empowerment in their community to reach their fullest God-given potential.
    • We are looking for an intern who would commit to 1 semester (spring, summer, or fall) to supervise and manage childcare classes in our various programs.

This intern would be responsible for the development of multiple children through various crafts, learning activities, and play. The intern will also be responsible for managing volunteers, providing orientation, and teaching about Buckner.
