Colorado Youth for a Change AmeriCorps Covid-19 Vaccination Policy

Colorado Youth for a Change does not require Covid-19 vaccination proof in order for AmerCorps members to serve in our programs. However, many of our schools and districts are mandating that any person serving within their buildings are fully vaccinated. In this instance, you may be asked to produce proof of vaccination. If a school does mandate vaccination, there may be medical or religious exemptions.

Masks will be required when serving in schools at all times.

Members can receive service hours for receiving the vaccine or being tested for COVID-19 if the vaccination and testing are required for service. As with all service hours, time should be documented judiciously.

COVID-19 vaccines are free. Here are some ways members can find a vaccine in Colorado:

    • Go to a Community Vaccination Site. An appointment is not necessary.
    • Check local pharmacies or participating Walmart, Sam’s Club, Safeway, Cardinal, City Market/King Soopers, and Costco locations.
    • Find another provider using this map to see if they are offering vaccination clinics. Some providers may accept walk-ins, others may still require appointments. Contact any provider directly for more information.
    • The state-run mobile COVID-19 vaccination clinics are now making stops in all four corners of the state. Book an appointment online.
    • Local public health agencies are organizing pop-up clinics all over the state with different community partners. Visit a local public health agency’s website or social media channel for more information about community clinics.
    • For help finding out where one can receive a vaccine or who to contact in one’s community, call 1-877-COVAXCO (1-877-268-2926) 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Multiple languages are available.

    Organization Overview

Colorado Youth for a Change (CYC) is an educational nonprofit organization with a statewide scope. CYC’s mission is to solve Colorado’s dropout crisis. CYC provides a continuum of services from Prekindergarten through High School to help students find success through tutoring, case management, and outreach to help in-school youth remain in school or out-of-school youth return to school. Math Corps is a step along that continuum to support students.

    Program Overview

Colorado Math Corps is an AmeriCorps program with the mission of ensuring that Colorado middle school students struggling in math receive daily individualized support in order to improve math skills. Math skills are highly predictive of high school graduation. In fact, nearly 90% of students who fail 6th grade math drop out of high school. The research tells us algebra proficiency is strongly correlated with college attendance and higher lifetime earnings. Colorado Math Corps is replicated from the successful Minnesota Math Corps.
