Work includes planning the visual aspects of such visual materials as videos, photographs, illustrations, etc. used in pamphlets, exhibits, live or video recorded speeches or lectures, and other means of communication such as web content, where the general format and specific themes to be illustrated are pre-determined. Intern works directly under the Chief of Interpretation and Education, but also with all park staff, regions, networks, and partners to maintain and develop web pages and social media sites (i.e. Youtube, Twitter, Facebook, etc).
Using principles outlined in the NPS Interpretive Development Program, plans visual products which convey park-wide interpretive themes to a varied audience. Intern must maintain a sufficient working knowledge of new and emerging technologies and incorporate that knowledge into products created.
