  • Responsibilities

    The intern will produce interpretive media for public education of recreation opportunities, connect digital audiences with the park and mountain through interpretive content, and promote an understanding of resource protection. This project will provide an opportunity for the selected individual to grow professionally through their volunteer service.

    During the internship, the incumbent will spend approximately 40 hours/week on the following:

    • Intern will assist Mount Rainier Interpretive Media team in the development of interpretive media.
    • Supported by members of the park interpretive media team the intern will prepare social media posts. Includes photography, writing, image research, and preparing alt-text.
    • The ideal candidate will have proven experience in digital photography and social media for an organization or government agency.
    • Intern will assist with film production, development of new exhibits, preparation of publications, and maintenance/updates of the park website.
    • Intern will take online and local interpretive and other relevant trainings to help develop/improve position related skills.
    • Safety is critical to an efficient operation. Interns must practice safe work habits at all times, and make public and personal safety a priority in all activities, and will be provided with park radio and personal protection equipment while in the field.
