  • Responsibilities

    This internship is for who are action driven and client focused. You want to be on the front lines delivering services to clients and/or work behind-the-scenes developing plans for effective service delivery. From small house fires to local natural disasters, you want to help where you're needed, so people can have clean water, safe shelter and hot meals when they need them most.

    Based on your interests, career and educational goals you may focus on one or more of the following projects:

    • Train to be a disaster specialist providing disaster relief to clients who experience everyday disasters such as residential fires.
    • Learn how to leverage volunteer management and engagement strategies to build effective disaster relief teams.
    • Learn about the planning and implementation side of Disaster Preparedness and help create plans for large-scale disaster service delivery. Focus on the activities, such as feeding, sheltering and bulk distribution that provide congregate care to those displaced by a disaster.
    • Be mentored by the Director of Planning, Readiness and Situational Awareness and collaborate to develop plans that outline how all departments and activities work in synchronization to deliver medium-to-large scale disaster relief services.

    Preferred Majors:

    • Urban Planning, Emergency Management, Public Policy and Administration, Nonprofit Management, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Homeland Security, Criminal Justice

    Preferred Grade Levels:

    • Undergraduate Junior, Undergraduate Senior and/or Graduate level.
