Field Communications Fellow (Thailand, DR, or Haiti)
Communications and Storytelling:
Increase Plant With Purpose’s consistency and capacity for storytelling by interviewing and capturing stories of hope and empowerment of partnering farmers and communities
Write compelling stories for a variety of mediums – grants, donor communication materials, social media, website, and blog content
Capture high-quality photos and videos of partnering farmers, families, communities, VSLA groups, and landscapes to be used for US communication materials
Collaborate with national staff to travel to communities and help facilitate consistency in communications and branding of Plant With Purpose
Communicate with US staff on communications needs and upload content to SalesForces story database and Flickr in a timely manner
Strengthen the capacity of field staff to manage website and social media content
Fundraising:
Help identify local fundraising opportunities and collaborate with field staff to draft proposals and reports
Develop marketing and fundraising tools to help field staff, such as design elements, white papers, market segmentation and analysis, database of local granting organizations, publicity and profile opportunities
Program Facilitation:
Aid in coordination and logistical planning of vision trips for US supporters to witness the program success and interact with participants
Work with field staff in detailed planning, hosting, and program highlights
Communicate expectations of visitors to field staff and vice versa
Serve as a translator for field staff and partnering farmers and facilitate questions and understanding of program for visitors
Required:

Strong cross-cultural skills, with the ability to adapt to the local culture
High degree of flexibility, self-motivation, and problem-solving skills
Ability to adapt to new cultures and be flexible in new, challenging environments
Creativity and ability to work with limited resources
Strong organizational skills, including effective time management and prioritization of competing demands and multiple deadlines
Dedication to completing the full 10-12 month assignment overseas
Ability to work independently
Ability and commitment to fund the experience
Desire and passion to work for a faith-based organization
Respectful attitude with community members and field staff in the local culture
Ability to contribute and uphold the public image of Plant With Purpose in the local country
Preferred:
Experience living or working in a developing country or cross-cultural setting
Functional photography and/or design skills, a plus Education
Completed degree in communications, writing, journalism, international development or related field
Language:
Fluent in English and willingness to teach English to field staff
Preferred: advanced communication ability in Spanish, French, Creole, or Thai (depending on country placement)
If language skills are not present, then a strong willingness to learn the local language
