HPP Historic Preservation Intern - PO-00725853
Laurel Hill State Park is home to the largest Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) architecture in Pennsylvania State Parks with over 200 buildings and structures that are located within the historic district. The period of significance is 1935-1942 and focuses solely on the architecture of the CCC. The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) is working cooperatively with the Pennsylvania Historic & Museum Commission (PHMC) in developing a Cultural Resources Management Plan that will guide preservation and use efforts going forward.
The interns will have a unique opportunity to play a significant role in the development of this plan while also restoring many of these historic structures working alongside the skilled staff at Laurel Hill State Park and members of Historicorps. They will develop a variety of skills in the construction trades and research of historic structures and significance while learning from professionals in the respective fields. In addition, interns will have an opportunity to work closely with park staff from a variety of work units and collaborate with partner, volunteers and other agency professionals.
