  • Responsibilities

    Hotline & Shelter Manager:

    • To meet the informational needs of all callers during non-business hours especially with the ministry to homeless persons seeking shelter.
    • To help provide a safe environment for staff, clients, and guests.
    • To monitor building activities from the Security Booth.
    • Answer Hotline for the Homeless phone calls. (priority for phone calls).
    • Answer Family Center and Main switchboard, transferring phone calls, and screening shelter callers for specific needs. Take phone messages as needed.
    • Make reservations for callers on the Hotline for the Homeless, utilizing the MAAC Link system.
    • Check in emergency overnight clients into overflow/hospitality room or room as needed, including necessary client paperwork.
    • Set up the Rainbow Room to accommodate emergency overnight guests as needed, including necessary client paperwork.
    • Do walk-around security checks of the building.
    • Answer client questions. Give referrals as needed.
    • Contact shelters for daily space and update.
    • Operate and observe video screens and controls.
    • Operate electronic doors at Family Center and New Life Center. Operate walk-through metal detector and respond appropriately.
    • Watch security monitoring equipment, recording observations.
    • Operate arm & disarm alarm systems.
    • Operate and communicate with clients and staff through the phone intercom system and telephone paging system.
    • Write a shift activity report detailing the events and observations during the work shift.
    • Receive donations and write GIK receipts for donors.
    • Seek to exemplify Jesus Christ daily and be prepared to share the Gospel as opportunities arise.
    • Communicate all concerns with clients to the shelter manager on duty.
    • Complete miscellaneous projects as may be assigned.

  • Qualifications

    Requirements:

    • At least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
    • Must be a Christian
    • U.S. or Canadian citizen, U.S. or Canadian national or lawful permanent resident alien, or have a valid student or work visa
    • Able to financially live on just free housing and any outside income sources you have.
    • Able to relocate to a location of a ministry site (unless a site exists at your current location)
