    City Vision Internships is a Christian one-year, multi-year, or summer internship program based on the AmeriCorps model. Interns serve at one of over 40 positions across the USA and Canada.

    This specific opportunity is with Literacy and Evangelism International.

    Job Summary: An internship which may qualify for college/university credit. To assist in managing dorm responsibilities and to help U.S. and international trainees at the International Literacy Training Institute, 7 weeks in early June to mid-July. The Intern will have the title of Dorm Manager and will be trained and supervised by the Facilities Manager/Dorm Parent.

    This is a 7-week internship: one week prior to ILTI, and one week after to help with cleaning the facility. The Intern will live onsite for the 7 weeks. The Intern may have 2 half days or one full day off per week, according to staff scheduling.

    International students from all over the world, as well as students from the USA, will be attending. The LEI goal is to help all students to make a smooth transition and feel comfortable in a multi-cultural environment. Instructors and staff also will be staying at the dorm (Tutor Place) and eating meals there.

    Tasks:

    • Give technical (computer) support when possible or refer the student to appropriate staff.
    • Teach, assist, and supervise students in their community living assignments. (Cleaning their room, doing their laundry, etc.)
    • Assist in transporting students to and from airport, outings and shopping trips, and to church.
    • Assist with ordering groceries from Sam’s online and picking them up when an order is ready.
    • Assist with meal planning and some light cooking. Prepare a continental breakfast 3 or 4 days a week.

  • Qualifications
    • Should be active in the Christian faith, and have a strong commitment to serving the Lord with a special interest in missions.
    • Must be accepting of the LEI Statement of Faith and Covenant Commitment of daily prayer.
    • Must be fully available to live and intern at the Institute, with no online classes or outside commitments, during the 7-week period, and must have a valid US driver's license.
