  • Responsibilities

    Sheltering Arms Children and Family Services is a social service organization with many comprehensive programs for vulnerable children, youth and families across the NY Metro area. One of the many Sheltering Arms services is to provide care for children who have been recently removed from their homes due to abuse and or neglect. At Sheltering Arms, the LPN will help provide pediatric care for these children, ages 2 to 12 years, in a residential setting until they are placed in a foster care placement. Under the supervision of the Director of Health Services, the LPN will participate in obtaining medical records, clinical assessments and hands-on implementation of medical care to these children entering into foster care at the residential site and in collaboration with the Sheltering Arms clinic’s team of health and mental care professionals.

    Essential Functions:

    • Obtain and document vital signs including: head circumference, pulse, respiration rate, height and weight, blood pressure, temperature.
    • Ensure receipt of written documentation of health and mental health records.
    • Assist MD and/or PNP in the provision of treatment care plans.
    • Follow up on appointments and referrals.
    • Track and monitor the general health of children for signs of illness.
    • Assist in quality assurance activities involving services provided to children in assigned caseload.
    • Other related task that may be assigned.

  • Qualifications

    Position Requirements:

    • Current New York State LPN License.
    • Associates Degree in Health Service, Biology or related field required.
    • Bilingual Spanish preferred.
    • 2 years clinic experience working in pediatrics with knowledge of or experience in foster care, management of medical records, and health care case management desired.
    • CPR Certification and certified to perform pre and post HIV test counseling.
