  • Responsibilities

    Members of the American Red Cross Financial Development team interact daily with the highest level of corporate and foundation partners of the Red Cross. The Development Department in Greater New York is responsible for raising funds through corporate and individual partnerships throughout the 15 counties we serve.

    The Intern will work on various projects and duties such as-

    • Vendor support
    • Donor/Philanthropic Research
    • Event communications
    • Donor follow-up
    • Support external events and fundraisers
    • Assisting in the data capture and inputting for the Development team’s GEOMAPS project

    This is a position that involves tasks and projects that process a lot of data and require critical thinking, strong communication, and management of confidential information. You will work in a busy, fast-paced and deadline-driven environment with a very dedicated team.

    American Red Cross Greater New York interns are involved in projects critical to the day-to-day work of our non-profit organization, gaining an insider’s perspective on the Red Cross humanitarian mission as well as service delivery at the local and national levels.   • Qualifications
    • Applicants must be currently enrolled in a degree program at the time of the internship, preferably as an Undergraduate Senior or above.
    • Interest in Fundraising, Non-Profit Administration, Financial Development or related majors.
    • Fundamental awareness & intermediate proficiency with fundraising database systems such as Raiser’s Edge and/or Salesforce preferred but not essential
    • Public speaking skills with a demonstrated ability to engage diverse audiences
    • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively
    • Strong degree of emotional intelligence and/or empathy with ability to work effectively in stressful situations
    • Strong research skills with ability to prepare reports based on findings
    • English fluency a must; multi-lingual a plus
    • Maintains confidentiality; works with integrity and ethically
