The Community Group

The Community Group (TCG) is a private, nonprofit organization creating opportunities through education since 1970. TCG manages a range of programs, including a network of early childhood and out-of-school time programs, a network of charter and district public schools, consulting and training programs, and a child care resource and referral program, Child Care Circuit.

Role

The paraprofessional will assist classroom teachers or principals, with duties regarding the students.

Duties

• Maintain order with the students assigned for supervision;
• Tutor students on lessons determined by the teacher;
• Help to maintain a positive classroom environment;
• Help to maintain order on the bus, if assigned;
• Monitor students for health problems, if assigned;
• Assist students with lessons and assignments in regular classrooms, if assigned;
• Assist teacher with organizational needs in the classroom;
• Maintain accurate records regarding students;
• Work as a member of the team with the teacher;
• Maintain confidentiality;
• Willing to obtain added training; and
• All other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

• Experience working with school-aged children;
• High School Diploma is required;
• Prefer, but do not require, some post-high school education;
• Good people skills;
• Well organized;
• Ability to work as a member of the team;
• Some technology skills;
• Ability to work well with students; and
• Ability to manage student behavior.
