    Believing that every child belongs in a safe, nurturing, and permanent family, Buckner International works daily to stabilize, heal, and empower families to realize their fullest, God-given potential. For the Fall of 2018 and Spring of 2019, we are looking for an intern to support the work of the President's office as the President's Fellow.

    Basic Function:
    The President’s Fellow will experience the workings of a global non-profit and the Office of the President and CEO. He or she will work closely with the Senior Advisor for Strategic Initiatives, Assistant to the President for Special Projects, and Director of Government Relations on key projects and critical administrative work. He or she will also collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team in coordination with the Senior Advisor.

    The Fellow must be located in the Dallas area. This position presents an opportunity to work remotely but will require the Fellow to work in the office upon request. Dates and times are flexible but will need to align with work requirements as developed by Senior Advisor. The President’s Office oversees a variety of projects such as Talent & Development, board relations, development activities, corporate strategy, government relations, and internal communications. Work may include research, writing, filing and data input and position will be exposed to many strategic functions of the organization. Candidates may be subject to pre-placement drug testing based on agency requirements.

    Work could include the following items:

    • Research for CEO presentations and writing
    • Research for Government Relations projects and meetings
    • Data input for Strategic Planning process
    • Document development for Board Meetings
    • Writing stories for Trustee newsletters
    • Fundraising proposal development
    • Organizing donor engagement opportunities
    • Preparation for President’s office meetings
    • Participating in employee engagement planning process
    • Writing internal communications pieces
    • Involvement in Talent & Development opportunities for staff
    • Supporting Customer Service initiatives
    • Helping the office move to a paperless filing system
    • Planning events for donors or Trustees
    • Updating CEO contacts
    • Other

    Acquired Skills:
    The Fellow will learn the workings of a large, multi-faceted non-profit and acquire exposure to board and donor relations, fundraising projects, employee-engagement, and talent and development initiatives, strategic planning, and more. He or she will develop research, writing, and communications skills as well as critical thinking. He or she will learn the role of the President and CEO.
