Summer 2023 Nurse – Overnight Summer Camp, Special Needs
Job Responsibilities include but is not limited too:
Oversee daily operation of the health center
Monitor health of all campers and staff throughout each session
Maintain complete and up-to-date health records including accident and incedent reports
Provide comprehensive nursing assessment to campers and staff and intervene as appropriate in accordance with standing orders
Ensure safe medication packaging, storage and administration in accordance with camp policies and procedures
Respond quickly to all medical emergencies and seek additional medical support as needed
Communicate any and all health concerns to the Executive Director
Supervise and mentor Health Assistants (typically current nursing school students)
Delegate, as appropriate, to health assistants, camp administrators and directors in accordance with camp policy and the Nurse Practice Act (Chapter 326-B) outlined in the New Hampshire Statutes
Follow set schedule for days off, must be on camp property on all other days when campers are on site
Participate in and lead specific parts of staff training pertaining to camp health and safety. Provide staff training on universal precautions, epi pens and basic health management
Qualifications:
Must have current RN, LPN, or NP license
Must be proficient in speaking, reading and writing of the English language
Must be able and willing to work long days with limited breaks, six days a week
Must be available to work the entirety of the season (June 11th to August 25th)
Must have and maintain valid CPR Certification - Recertification options are available
Ability to take initiative and make health care decisions
Experience with children and young adults preferable
Must pass all background checks as required for seasonal employees of an organization working with vulnerable child populations
*NH is part of the 30+ compact states. If your license is from a compact state, you may practice in New Hampshire without an additional license. If it is not, camp may pay for additional NH qualifications and certifications.
