The 826 National Systems & Research Coordinator will develop and improve systems to support, advance, and sustain 826 National’s work to codify the 826 model, support Network-wide learning, and expand the network into new communities.

The VISTA will help codify and document network-wide processes, systems, and best practices; build out an internal platform for sharing these resources with current 826 Network chapters; help research the regional differences and needs of chapters-in-development; and develop manuals, document onboarding processes, and systems for sharing resources with chapters-in-development.

This position is part of the 826 National Network VISTA Program and is located at 826 National in San Francisco, CA. 826 National serves as an international proof point for writing as a tool for young people to ignite and channel their creativity, explore identity, advocate for themselves and their community, and achieve academic and professional success. Our work amplifies and scaffolds the impact of both our national network of youth writing centers and the words of young authors.

AmeriCorps VISTA members placed at the 826 National office in San Francisco will build the organization’s capacity to provide vital infrastructure and systems support to our three chapters-in-development; our current writing and tutoring centers in Boston, Chicago, Detroit/Ann Arbor, Los Angeles, New Orleans, NYC, San Francisco, Washington DC, and, beginning in 2019, Minneapolis, MN; and 826 Digital, our free online platform for educators. VISTA members will have the opportunity to create new systems and enhance current efforts related to program development and management, professional development, fundraising, communications, and research and evaluation.
